"Main dish" usually refers to the main protein source in your meal, whether it is meat, poultry, seafood, eggs or beans. Cheese dishes may also be considered main dishes. Many main dishes also provide protein, iron and a variety of nutrients such as B-vitamins. Select low fat options or fishes that contain healthy types of fat. Remember, this part of your meal should make up only about one quarter of a healthy plate!
