"Of Skull, Severed Heads and Skeletons: Battlefield Clean-up during the American War of Independence" - Bergen County Historical Society Lecture Series

Thursday, April 26, 2018

Battlefield clean-up is a topic rarely covered yet following almost any military engagement, there are corpses to dispose of. Who does that? Can we tell who buried whom? Can we identify them? What happens with the skeletons? This talk will address these and related questions. Dr. Robert A. Selig is a historical consultant who received his Ph.D. in history from the Universität Würzburg in Germany. He is a specialist on the role of French forces under the comte de Rochambeau during the American Revolutionary War and currently serves as project historian to the National Park Service for the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route National Historic Trail Project. Please join us for refreshments at the conclusion.
