Artist and Hackensack resident, Poramit Thantapalit has installed an exhibition: "Life Under the Sea", Mixed Media and Cyanotype at the Johnson Public Library. It consists of artwork from the artist's creative output over the past 5 years and combines recycled materials and cyanotype. Mr. Thantapalit turns what most people consider "trash" into fantastic reinterpretations. Some objects used are: plastic bottles, cardboard, wood, paper, wires, electrical cords, computer parts and used clothing. The artist repurposes these everyday scraps into objects of great beauty and worth. Don't miss this opportunity to get a glimpse into this talented artist's imagination. During the month of April Oakland watercolor artist Pamela Leggate will be exhibiting her work at the Oakland Library. This exhibit concentrates on transparent watercolor, using different techniques and concentrating on a limited palette.

Calligraphy artist Susan Steele will teach a Calligraphy Workshop at the Oakland Library on April 18 at 6:00 - 8:00 P M. Students will create colorful Medieval style letters for framing or note cards and will learn about the art of beautiful Northern Italian Medieval Lombardic letter form. Ms. Steel, a member of the NYC Society of Scribes Board of Governors, is known for her beautiful hand written invitations, envelopes, menus, place cards and citations. There is a $10.00 materials fee due at registration. Register in person at the Oakland Library located at 2 Municipal Plaza, Oakland NJ.
