Community Service Aide - County of Bergen Department of Human Services – Division of Senior Services

Under supervision, performs a variety of routine field and office work involved in community-oriented programs such as housing, urban renewal, education, welfare, unemployment, and crime prevention; interviews community residents and assists them in obtaining government aid and support services, or makes referrals to other agencies; does other related duties as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Keeps lunch records up to date and organized.
  • Assists in kitchen as needed.
  • Assist in creating, planning and implementation of special programs/events.
  • Assists with gathering data/information in the community and inputs into database.
  • Assists residents with transportation and appropriate public or private agencies.
  • Provides residents with information and assistance resources.
  • Prepares reports.
  • Maintains essential records and files.

Schedule:

  • Full time – Monday – Friday.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel programs.
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work well in a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of SAMS and Access are a plus.
