Tree Maintenance Worker - Division of Parks

 Full time position

Job Description:

Responsible for tree removal, trimming, and pruning, which may be required due to environmental, aesthetic, roadway obstruction, or other safety-related factors.

 General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cut away dead, obstructive, or excess branches from trees or shrubbery
• Utilize chainsaws and hacksaws to safely cut down trees and tree limbs
• Climb trees with safety devices or utilize buckets/lifts to properly cut down limbs and prune trees; remove branches away from power lines and reshape trees to aesthetically pleasing shapes
• Remove debris and cart away large logs and limbs for disposal; and clear parks, facilities, and roads of tree branches, fallen trees, and other debris
• May be required to water/fertilize trees, spray and treat diseased trees, and apply tar to cut surfaces to seal in moisture.

Skills:

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in tree maintenance work.
• Experience with tree removal and use of cutting/pruning equipment preferred.
