MEDIA ADVISORY – PARAMUS – FRIDAY
GRAND OPENING FOR RARE RED WOLF EXHIBIT OPENS TODAY AT BERGEN COUNTY ZOO
Exhibit Expands Conservation Programming at Bergen County’s Nationally Accredited Zoo
What: Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of County Commissioners invite members of the media to the Bergen County Zoo on Friday, October 1 for the grand opening of the new Red Wolf exhibit. The project is part of a larger Red Wolf Recovery program designed to save the Red Wolves species. Red Wolves were declared extinct in the wild in 1980, but through aggressive conservation efforts, there are 20 red wolves left in the wild and 248 red wolves in breeding facilities. The Bergen County Zoo’s new exhibit is over 10,000 square feet and is now home to two (2) young male red wolves on loan from the Wolf Conservation Center. The event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, performances by the Red Storm Drum & Dance Troop, extended zoo hours with free admission, extended hours for the train and carousel, crafts for children, a raffle with prizes, and giveaways.
