(SADDLE BROOK, N.J.) – County Executive Jim Tedesco and members of the Board of Commissioners recently presented a ceremonial check for $138,808 from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund (OSTF) to Saddle Brook Mayor Bob White and members of the Township Council.

The grant will fund improvements to Kern Park, which is located adjacent to Victor Field. Improvements will include the replacement of playground structures and playground surfaces, the installation of new playground structures for 2-5-year-olds, new trash receptacles, paving of curbs and sidewalks, drainage improvements, and the installation of park benches.

“Preserving and enhancing our open spaces is a top priority in Bergen County,” said County Executive Jim Tedesco. “The Open Space Trust Fund is essential to this effort, fostering partnerships across our communities and guaranteeing that our parks, cultural sites, recreational areas, and natural spaces will be enjoyed by future generations.”

“Speaking for the Township of Saddle Brook, I want to extend our sincere thanks to the County for this incredible funding opportunity and its unwavering commitment to enhancing and preserving open space,” said Saddle Brook Mayor Bob White. "By revitalizing Kern Park, we are making a meaningful investment not only in our open spaces but in the heart of our community as well.”

“The Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund is about ensuring that all residents, in every corner of our county, have access to quality outdoor spaces,” said County Commissioner Tracy Zur. “Improvements to Kern Park will provide Saddle Brook families with an upgraded, safe, and inviting space to enjoy the outdoors. It’s these kinds of projects that enhance our neighborhoods and improve the quality of life for residents of all ages.”
