Our labor force is one of our greatest attributes. According to the 2010 U.S. Census Bergen County's percentage of adults with a college degree or higher is 44.2%, which is 10% higher than the national average. Our sought after colleges and universities continue to enhance and tailor curriculum to educate the workforce of our future for our growing companies.

Bergen County communities offer a diverse mix of public and private educational opportunities. The county has 265 public schools and 134 non-public schools, including Bergen County Technical Schools.

Founded in 1965 to satisfy the region's need for a convenient, affordable, and comprehensive higher education destination, Bergen Community College now enrolls nearly 17,000 students in its academic degree programs. The college's three sites in Paramus (main campus), Hackensack (Ciarco Learning Center), and Lyndhurst (Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands) serve more than 32,000 students in degree, continuing education and adult education programs.

Established in 1969, Ramapo College offers bachelor's degrees in the arts, business, humanities, social sciences, and the sciences. Professional studies include nursing and social work. In addition, Ramapo College offers courses leading to teacher certification at the elementary and secondary levels. The college also offers six graduate programs as well as articulated programs with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New York Chiropractic College, New York University College of Dentistry, SUNY State College of Optometry, and New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as fifth in the Best Regional Universities North category for public institutions, Ramapo College of New Jersey is sometimes mistaken for a private college.

Saint Peter’s College is one of twenty-eight Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, and the only one in New Jersey. Since 1872, Saint Peter’s College has offered an education based on the fundamental values of academic excellence, leadership, service, and faith. The college has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 full-time and part-time students hailing from across the country and the globe. With an undergraduate student-faculty ratio of 13 to one, class sizes averaging only 22 students.

 

The college offers over 40 undergraduate and pre-professional programs. Graduate programs offer our students the opportunity to earn master's degrees in education, business administration, accountancy, criminal justice administration, and nursing. Doctoral programs are offered in education and nursing. There are campuses in Englewood and Englewood Cliffs.
