IDA Recovery Projects

  • Demarest – County Road over Cresskill Brook

The County Road culvert over Cresskill Brook, located between Anderson Avenue and Lauren Pond Court, failed during Hurricane Ida.  The entire structure was destroyed and has been removed leaving the road impassable.  The road remains closed at this location with traffic instructed to follow detour.    The County intends to replace the culvert as soon as possible with a new permanent structure currently in the design phase.  Installation of the permanent structure once the design is complete, instead of installation of a temporary structure, avoids the need for a lengthy road closure in the future.
  • Saddle River – West Saddle River Road over Saddle River Tributary

The West Saddle River Road culvert over the Saddle River Tributary was damaged during Hurricane Ida.  The structure is located north of Dater Lane and south of Pell Farm Road.  Steel plates have been installed in the roadway over the structure.  The County intends to replace the culvert as soon as possible with a new permanent structure currently in the design process.  A temporary full road closure will be required during construction of the new replacement structure.
  • Woodcliff Lake – Saddle River Road over Musquapsink Brook

The Saddle River Road culvert over the Musquapsink Brook was damaged during Hurricane Ida.  The structure is located west of Werimus Road and east of Stacey Lane.  The roadway is restricted to one way traffic allowing EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ONLY in an effort to minimize impacts on the traveling public.  Westbound traffic is to follow detour.  The County intends to replace the culvert as soon as possible with a new permanent structure currently in the design phase.  A temporary full road closure will be required during construction of the new replacement structure.
