The County of Bergen Shared Services Division will continue to partner with our municipalities to deliver new and innovative services and plan for the future while preserving and enhancing the quality of life for all the citizens of the County.

Through shared service resolutions and contracts, Bergen County offers municipalities the following programs:

• The Bergen County Purchasing Division offers an energy program for procurement of both electric and natural gas.  Those communities that join with the County enjoy reduced rates, thereby saving their towns thousands of tax dollars.
• Many of the municipalities buy their gasoline and diesel fuel through a contract that was developed through the Bergen County Purchasing Division.
• There are three Co-Operative groups in the Northern part of the County:  Pascack Valley Co-Op, Northwest Bergen Co-Op and Riverside Co-Op.  Through interlocal agreements and resolutions, these groups share equipment that would have been too costly for one community to procure on its own.  The 11 towns in the Pascack Valley Co-Op share a sewer vacuum.  The 14 towns in the Northwest Bergen Co-Op share two garbage trucks and two Bobcat-like units.  The Riverside Co-Op’s 13 towns share a combination three-ton Hot Box/Infrared Unit mounted on a flatbed truck.
• The Bergen County Department of Public Safety offers 911 Dispatch services and Swift Reach emergency alerts to municipalities.
• Bergen County’s Department of Public Works offers municipalities the use of a street sweeper, limited sign making services and road salt.  Occasionally, they also share other equipment, such as snowplows, if available.
• Through the County Purchasing Co-Op, of which every municipality is a member, the County’s Purchasing Division also offers municipalities the opportunity to purchase asphalt, vehicles and janitorial supplies at discounted prices.
