Floodplain Protection Grant Program

The Floodplain Protection Program provides grants to acquire properties that have been damaged by, or may be prone to incurring damage caused by, storms or storm-related flooding, or that may buffer or protect other lands from such damage. 

The objective of the program is to acquire flood damaged properties, remove structures and permanently preserve the lands for recreation and conservation purposes.

This Program was established by the County following the passage of the November 2013 County voter question.

If a municipality is interested in applying for a Floodplain Protection grant, below are links to the application and the Program Rules and Procedures Manual.

Application Deadline:  Applications must be submitted to the Trust Fund Administrators at the Bergen County Department of Parks by 4:30 P.M. on Friday, May 12th, 2023.
