HUD Lead Abatement Grant

The County of Bergen has been awarded a $3.3 million grant from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to abate lead paint hazards in the homes of qualified residents in Bergen County. The goal of the program is to provide Lead-Safe housing and Healthy Homes. The following are eligibility criteria: 

 

1. Construction Year; property built prior to 1978 
2. Occupancy: Child under 6 year old residing or spending significant time at the property
3. Owner occupied or tenant occupied property
4. Pregnant woman
5. At or below 80% median income
